SNAP and EBT, state by state: official logins, phone numbers, income limits and rules

FY2027 limits, in effect from October 1, 2026

Nevada EBT and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

Reviewed Income limits for FY2027 (Oct 1, 2026 to Sep 30, 2027)

Nevada's Division of Social Services (DSS), called the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS) in notices from 2024 and earlier, runs SNAP through its Access Nevada portal1,11. Every household gets its monthly benefits on the 1st, and for FY2027 most can have gross income up to 200% of the poverty line6,3. USDA has approved a Nevada ban on buying candy and sugar-sweetened drinks with SNAP, set to start February 1, 202813.

Access Nevada accounts after the February 2025 reset

Access Nevada is the DSS portal for food assistance, health coverage and cash assistance. You can apply for any of the three, and the "Manage My Benefits" area shows past applications and the benefits on your case5. If your account dates from before February 3, 2025, it no longer works: everyone had to register a new Access Nevada account on or after that date. Sign-in uses multi-factor authentication, and DSS says your browser must support TLS 1.25.

Changes can also go through DSS's online Report a Change form, in English or Spanish, which asks who moved in or out, new jobs, changes in hours or pay, other income, expenses and resources16. Paperwork can be emailed to [email protected]17.

The Nevada EBT Card, EBT Edge and stolen benefits

Approved households get a Nevada EBT Card, used with a PIN7,2. Under the DSS manual, a district office can hand you the card over the counter and let you pick the PIN there, or the EBT contractor mails it and you set the PIN by phone8. For account information, DSS points to EBT Edge, the FIS cardholder site, and the EBT Edge mobile app7,9. FIS customer service at 1-866-281-2443 answers 24 hours a day in English and Spanish for lost, stolen or damaged cards, replacements and PIN resets9,10.

Once you report a card lost or stolen, it stops working. The manual says a new card is mailed within 24 to 48 hours, or you can pick one up at a district office with ID during business hours8. Benefits spent before your report are not replaced8.

DSS had federal approval to replace benefits stolen by skimming or cloning only through September 30, 202411. Its manual allows replacement in narrow cases: a mailed card never arrived and someone outside the household used it, a store's debit error reported within 90 days, or use after you had asked for the card to be cancelled8. DSS asks cardholders to use only the EBT Edge site or app, to freeze or lock the card when not in use, and to change the PIN each month before the issuance date7. EBT Edge can also block online and out-of-state purchases11. The DSS pages checked on October 16, 2026 do not mention chip cards.

Applying through Access Nevada or a district office

  1. Gather what DSS asks for. DSS suggests reading form 2522-EE, "Information Needed to Process Your Application," before you start, so you have proof ready1.
  2. Apply in Access Nevada or on paper. Apply online in Access Nevada, or print the Application for Assistance (form 2905-EG, March 2026 version) and mail, fax or drop it off at a Social Services office1. If you fax it, bring the original to your interview or mail it31.
  3. Do the interview. DSS schedules an interview after you apply and sends the appointment in writing. Nevada's manual allows telephone interviews for all SNAP households; you can ask to be seen in person1,21.
  4. Watch the mail for your decision. DSS mails a Determination of Eligibility letter. If you are approved, the Nevada EBT Card follows in the mail2.

DSS's SNAP page says households with little or no money may get benefits within 7 business days1. Its FAQ adds that applicants who qualify for this fast track may be seen the same or the next work day, and that elderly and disabled applicants are interviewed by phone. Miss the interview and do not reschedule, and the application is denied on day 3020. Each district office has its own line for rescheduling18,19. Households where everyone receives SSI can apply at a Social Security office instead1.

8$9,288$4,644$1,841
Each additional person+$948+$474+$225

Gross limit: as published by Nevada Division of Social Services (DSS), Nevada Department of Human Services3. Net limit and maximum benefit: USDA FY2027 cost-of-living adjustments. All states compared.

The table above copies the DSS chart "Effective October 1, 2026," whose 200% column is labeled "CAT ELIG"3. Some figures run one dollar above a straight 200% calculation; DSS's figures are used here. The same chart sets the maximum benefit at $306 for one person and $1,023 for four, and the minimum at $25 for one- or two-person households3.

Income above 130% does not cut off a small household. Under the DSS manual, a categorically eligible household of one or two gets at least the minimum benefit whatever its net income. A household of three or more whose benefit works out to $0 stays open in "suspense status" with no payment4. DSS had not published FY2027 utility allowances as of October 16, 2026; its SNAP charts chapter (November 2025) shows only FY2026 figures4.

Net income test. Households that qualify through Nevada's broad-based categorical eligibility only have to stay under the 200% gross line3,12. A household that does not qualify that way must pass the 130% gross test (from $1,729 a month for one person) and the 100% net test (from $1,330), both effective October 1, 20263.

Assets. USDA's chart of state BBCE rules, updated June 29, 2026, lists Nevada as "No limit on assets" for households that qualify through BBCE12. Households that do not qualify that way fall under the federal FY2027 limits of $3,000, or $4,750 with a member who is 60 or older or disabled.

Nevada pays every SNAP household on the 1st

All monthly SNAP benefits are available on the first day of the benefit month; there is no schedule by case number or name.

Benefit monthBenefits available
November 2026November 1, 2026
December 2026December 1, 2026
January 2027January 1, 2027

Nevada's manual chapter on monthly cut-off dates, updated October 7, 2026, says EBT benefits "are available on the first day of the benefit month," and lists November 1, December 1 and January 16. Monthly issuances post on the issuance date even on a weekend or holiday. Newly approved benefits are issued daily and are on the card by 7 a.m. the morning after they are sent8. The first month is prorated from the day you apply; applying on the 1st gets the full month4,22.

DSS removes benefits from an account that goes unused for 274 days, so use the card at least once in that period7,8.

Six-month and 12-month certifications in Nevada

Under DSS's case disposition rules (June 2026), most households are certified for six months and review every eligibility factor at each six-month renewal. Households where every member is 60 or older or disabled get 12 months. A household made up only of one adult under the work-requirement time limit gets three months22. DSS mails a Notice of Expiration 60 days before your certification ends. Reapply by the 15th of your last benefit month to avoid a gap; a renewal sent more than 60 days early is not valid23. If you miss the renewal interview, the case closes on the last day of the period. If you cooperate within 30 days after that, DSS reinstates the case with prorated benefits from that date23.

Between renewals, SNAP-only households report two things within 10 days: moving out of Nevada, or gross income above 130% of poverty. The exact amount is printed on your notice of decision2,24. Households approved with income between 130% and 200% report only when income goes above 200%24. Households that also get TANF or Medicaid report more, by the 5th of the next month2. Use the Change Report Form 2584-EG, the online Report a Change form or Access Nevada2,16.

Rules specific to Nevada

Candy and sugar-sweetened drink ban approved for February 1, 2028

USDA approved Nevada's food restriction waiver on March 4, 2026, for two years starting February 1, 202813. It bars SNAP purchases of candy and sugar-sweetened beverages14. In its request, Nevada counted soft drinks and juice drinks under 50% juice with added sweeteners as sugar-sweetened. Milk drinks, 100% juice, diet drinks, coffee, tea, sports drinks and plain water stay allowed25. On April 22, 2026, USDA approved a change to the candy definition that removed brand names13. Until February 1, 2028, the federal SNAP food rules apply in Nevada.

Work rules for adults 18 through 64 since July 4, 2025

Since July 4, 2025, adults 18 through 64 who can work and have no child under 14 in the SNAP household get only 3 full months of benefits in a fixed 36-month period. To keep benefits, work or join an approved program at least 80 hours a month26,27. Nevada's statewide waiver ended in FY202626. From February 1, 2026 to January 31, 2027, the time limit is waived only in Mineral County and 12 tribal areas, including the Pyramid Lake Paiute Reservation, the Las Vegas Indian Colony and the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony26,28. Members of a federally recognized tribe are exempt. Months used in another state count here27.

Summer EBT 2026: $120 per child

Nevada paid $120 per eligible school-age child in Summer EBT for 2026. Many children got it automatically, with issuance starting May 23, 2026. Other families applied through the Access Nevada S-EBT portal until August 9, 2026. The benefits expire 122 days after they are loaded10.

No Restaurant Meals Program; homeless meals card

Nevada is not on USDA's list of states running a Restaurant Meals Program (page updated August 7, 2026)15. Separately, the DSS manual lets homeless households use their EBT card for prepared meals from authorized homeless meal providers26.

Online grocery orders and no sales tax

Nevada is on USDA's list of states where SNAP can buy groceries online from authorized retailers (page updated February 17, 2026)29. DSS notes that SNAP purchases are exempt from sales tax30.
